Electrical Supervisor - Newmarket
Rate: £280 - £300 P.D (DOE)
About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Electrical Supervisor to support the delivery of a major prison refurbishment project in Newmarket. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, compliant, and timely execution of all electrical works within a secure and highly regulated environment.
You will supervise day-to-day site activities, oversee electrical operatives and subcontractors, ensure compliance with all prison security protocols, and report into the Electrical Construction Manager to help drive quality and programme performance.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise all electrical installation and refurbishment works on-site.
- Oversee and coordinate electrical operatives, apprentices, and subcontractors on a day-to-day basis.
- Ensure works comply with BS standards, project specifications, and security requirements.
- Carry out regular site inspections, quality checks, and progress reporting to the Construction Manager.
- Liaise with prison estate teams, site management, and other stakeholders as required.
- Implement and monitor method statements, risk assessments, and permits to work.
- Ensure adherence to Health & Safety legislation within a secure environment.
- Assist with testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Identify site-level risks, resolve day-to-day issues, and help maintain programme targets.
- Proven experience as an Electrical Supervisor or similar role.
- Background in commercial refurbishment or complex live-site environments (secure sites advantageous).
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, regulations, and industry standards.
- Ability to supervise operatives and subcontractors effectively on-site.
- Good communication, reporting, and organisational skills.
- ECS/CSCS (Supervisor level), SSSTS, and relevant electrical qualifications (e.g. 18th Edition, City & Guilds).
- Security clearance or eligibility to obtain prison vetting.
