HGV Technician

Manpower is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced HGV Technician to join their established team in Newmarket on a permanent contract.

Are you an experienced LCV/HGV Technician looking for a new challenge? Our client has built an excellent reputation within the Commercial and HGV Vehicle sector, delivering high-quality service and maintenance solutions. Due to continued growth and expansion, they are looking to add skilled technicians to their team.

You may already be an experienced HGV Technician, or perhaps a Car/Van Technician looking to broaden your skills and transition into the HGV industry. Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out routine inspections and repairs to DVSA standards.
  • Diagnosing faults using computer technology and mechanical expertise.
  • Liaising with the Parts Department as required.
  • Servicing and repairing vehicles in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and timescales, including gearboxes, brakes, and suspension systems.
  • Developing and maintaining best practice across all service operations.
  • Participating in the Service Van rota.
  • Completing inspection sheets and job cards accurately and to a high standard.
  • Ensuring all company, franchise, Health & Safety, Environmental, and ISO policies and standards are adhered to.

About You

  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a friendly and supportive team environment.
  • Previous experience working within a franchise dealership preferred.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible approach to work with a strong work ethic.
  • Willingness to undertake further training and development.
  • City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Repair and Maintenance preferred.
  • Comfortable using computer-based diagnostic systems.
  • Experience working in a main dealer environment is advantageous.
  • HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence beneficial but not essential.

Salary & Benefits

  • £41,000 - £43,000 per year, depending on experience.
  • Permanent, full-time position.
  • Monday to Friday with alternating shifts:
    • 06:00 - 14:00
    • 14:00 - 22:00 (Friday late shift: 12:00 - 20:00)
  • Additional hours available.
