Graduate Assistant
The Graduate Assistant will actively contribute to the work of the Department of UWG Newnan by fulfilling the following responsibilities:
Student Services & Administrative Support (45%) Respond to student, parent, and prospective student inquiries by email, phone, and in person regarding admissions, enrollment, registration, and University processes. Assist students by providing general guidance and directing them to appropriate University departments, resources, and services based on their needs. Assist with the collection, review, and processing of documentation for Admissions, Financial Aid, Health Services, and other University departments while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Support daily office operations, including scheduling, workflow management, correspondence, and record-keeping. Track student engagement and event attendance, including accurately entering participation numbers into Wolf Connect in a timely manner. Maintain a professional, welcoming, organized, and student-centered office environment. Event Planning & Marketing (35%) Assist with planning, coordinating, and executing weekly student engagement events aligned with Newnan Campus and University initiatives.
Develop marketing materials, including flyers, digital graphics, and promotional materials using Canva or similar design platforms. Create social media content to promote student engagement events, programs, and campus resources. Assist with event logistics, including preparation, setup, registration, serving, breakdown, and cleanup. Track event participation and assist with preparing post-event reports and documentation. Collaborate with Newnan Student Services staff and University departments to support successful student engagement initiatives.
Newnan Testing Services Support (20%) Assist with administering and proctoring exams in accordance with University testing policies and procedures while maintaining the confidentiality of testing materials and student information. Assist with checking students in for scheduled testing appointments and verifying student identification. Assist with preparing and maintaining testing spaces to ensure a secure, quiet, and distraction-free testing environment. Monitor testing sessions to ensure students do not access unauthorized materials, devices, information, or resources.
Report testing irregularities, concerns, or issues to the appropriate staff member in a timely manner. Assist with other testing-related administrative duties as assigned.
Be fully admitted to a graduate degree program d a Bachelor
¿ s degree from an accredited institution. Be enrolled full-time in a UWG graduate program during the assistantship period. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all previous and current graduate coursework and remain in good academic standing. Meet eligibility requirements for employment in the United States.
Fully online graduate student preferred, or students whose graduate courses are scheduled after 5:00 p.m., with flexibility to adjust their schedule to support student engagement programs and office needs. Experience with event planning, student engagement, campus programming, or student activities. Proficiency with Canva or similar graphic design platforms. Experience creating content for social media platforms. Familiarity with university admissions, financial aid, enrollment, registration, or student services processes.
Experience with scheduling systems, reporting tools, student information systems, or engagement platforms. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with staff and campus partners.
