We are seeking an experienced Pavement Sales Estimator with a strong background in asphalt and/or concrete pavement projects to join our team. This hybrid role combines high-level sales and estimating responsibilities with hands‑on project management once a sale is closed. The ideal candidate will drive revenue growth by providing accurate, competitive estimates to clients while ensuring successful project execution and client satisfaction post‑sale.
This position requires deep industry knowledge, excellent client relationship skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects from bid to completion.
- Respond promptly to client inquiries, leads, and requests for proposals (RFPs) for pavement‑related projects, including driveways, parking lots, roadways, repairs, seal coating, striping, and site work.
- Conduct site visits and assessments to evaluate existing conditions, measure quantities, and identify project requirements.
- Review blueprints, plans, specifications, and scopes of work to prepare detailed, accurate take‑offs and cost estimates.
- Calculate costs for materials (asphalt, concrete, aggregates, etc.), labor, equipment, subcontractors, trucking, and overhead/profit margins.
- Develop and present professional proposals, bids, and quotes that are competitive, clear, and comprehensive.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and scope adjustments with clients to close sales while maintaining profitability.
- Build and maintain long‑term relationships with clients, general contractors, property managers, municipalities, and other stakeholders.
- Identify new business opportunities and contribute to sales strategies in the pavement sector.
- Transition sold projects seamlessly to execution by coordinating with operations, production, and field teams.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the client throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee project scheduling, resource allocation, and timelines to ensure on‑time and on‑budget delivery.
- Manage change orders, variations, and any scope adjustments, including preparing additional estimates as needed.
- Monitor project progress, costs, and quality control in the field.
- Handle billing, collections, and final closeout documentation, including obtaining necessary sign‑offs and warranties.
- Resolve any issues or disputes that arise during construction to maintain positive client relationships.
- Minimum 7 years of direct experience in pavement sales, estimating, and/or project management within the asphalt and/or concrete paving industry (commercial, residential, municipal, or industrial projects).
- Proven track record of successfully estimating and closing pavement projects, with hands‑on knowledge of field operations.
- Strong understanding of paving materials, methods, best practices, productivity rates, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and bid documents.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem‑solving skills for precise quantity take‑offs and cost calculations.
- Experience with estimating software/tools (e.g., Plan Swift, Agtek, Excel‑based systems, or similar).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for frequent site visits and client meetings.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Detail‑oriented with a commitment to accuracy, profitability, and client satisfaction.
- Prior experience in a combined sales/estimating/project management role in paving or heavy civil construction.
- Knowledge of local codes, permitting processes, and safety regulations in the paving industry.
- Familiarity with public‑sector bidding processes (e.g., DOT or municipal projects).
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience
- Performance‑based bonuses.
- Paid time off (details provided upon interview)
- Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement (as applicable)
- Opportunities for professional growth in a stable, growing industry
