Northgate High School

180 Days - 7 - hours per day $14.57

RESPONSIBLE TO:
School Principal and/or Designee


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification: 60 College Semester Hours or 90 College Quarter Hours or minimum 2 year degree or pass the Paraprofessional Praxis Exam.
An official transcript will be needed for this position. (high school transcript if taking the Gace-College if you have enough credits.)

Experience:
Experience working in an educational setting and prior clerical experience preferred


Skills Required:
Basic knowledge of business English, general vocabulary, spelling, math and a working knowledge of modem office practices and procedures. Ability to maintain records and files; ability to work harmoniously with other employees; ability to meet and deal with the public in an effective and tactful manner. Ability to adjust to changing conditions and situations.


PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To provide competent support and assistance for the smooth and efficient operation of the school office. Insure maximum positive impact upon students, parents, teachers and the general public. Perform such tasks as may be assigned by the administration in support of the instructional program and activities of the school.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in creating a school environment that is positive, productive and conducive to learning.
  • Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing school operations.
  • Help the administration enforce reasonable rules of classroom/school behavior and maintain order in a fair and just manner.
  • Provide direct office support as needed
  • Provide In School/Time Out support as needed
  • Provide classroom/paraprofessional support as needed
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required.
  • Respond to the identified needs of teachers, students, and parents.
  • Answer telephone/takes messages.
  • Maintain files.
  • Schedule appointments.
  • Type from copy, rough draft or detailed instructions.
  • Assist in preparing reports.
  • Operate copy machine, fax and other software applications as required.
  • May serve as a receptionist.
  • Performs other support tasks as assigned.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Comply with any reasonable oral or written directive of the teacher, the principal, or other appropriate administrator or supervisor.
