Position Title
Special Education Paraprofessional/Bridge
Compensation183 Day Calendar $14.57 an hour, 7.5 hours a day (prorated if you do not start at the beginning of the school year)

Job Responsibilities- Provide competent support and assistance to classroom teacher(s) in the full implementation of instructional programs.
- Meet and instruct assigned groups and individuals at designated locations and times.
- Present materials required in the teaching assignment within content limitations of the system curriculum guides and under the direction of the teacher.
- Assist the teacher with programs of study that meet individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
- Prepare for assigned groups and/or individuals and demonstrate such preparation.
- Provide teacher input for assessing student accomplishments.
- Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required.
- Assist the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
- Enforce reasonable classroom behavior rules and maintain order fairly and justly.
- Provide feedback to learners on academic progress and behavior.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Reproduce, organize, distribute, and collect instructional materials for program implementation.
- Comply with any reasonable oral or written directive of the teacher, principals, or other supervisors.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all student information.
- Assist students in various settings, including personal hygiene, toileting, health and safety, and grooming as needed.
- Perform health procedures (medication administration, tube feeding, clean intermittent bladder catheterization) as assigned, after completing required training.
- Participate in training programs designed to increase skill and proficiency related to the job assignment and procedures for students with disabilities.
- Assist with specialized feeding requirements.
- Assist with the implementation of positive behavioral support/interventions.
- Follow safety procedures when lifting students and operating wheelchairs and other equipment.
- Perform special duties required to meet the unique needs of specific student populations, such as lifting physically disabled students.
- Hold an Associate Degree or higher, 90 college quarter hours/60 semester hours, or pass the paraprofessional assessment test (GACE).
- Ability to organize, direct, and control small and large groups of children in various activities and settings.
- Ability to adjust to changing conditions and situations.
- Experience working with and directing the activities of children, preferably in education.
- Other qualifications as the Coweta County Board of Education may deem appropriate and acceptable.
