Job Description

This position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact by preparing students for successful careers in the early childhood care and education profession through hands‑on, real‑world training in a supportive learning environment. Under general supervision, the instructor will prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technical/occupational courses. The instructor will prepare standardized course syllabi using a provided template and assess students’ satisfactory progress based on established course grading requirements.

This instructor will teach courses for program while maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field. This instructor will teach early childhood care and education courses in a classroom and lab environment that closely simulates the industry and follows curriculum standards. The instructor will provide instruction in the theory and practical applications of Early Childhood Care and Education.

Essential

Functions
  • Instruction Provides instruction in theory and practical applications of the discipline in accordance with academic state standards.
  • Instructs courses in a classroom and lab environment that closely simulates the environment of the industry.
  • Utilizes current technology in the classroom and lab environment.
  • Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
  • Grades all coursework in a timely manner.
  • Provides student support and advising.
  • Maintains office hours weekly.
  • Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the discipline area.
  • Meets with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues.
  • Maintains program certification/accreditation requirements as appropriate for the teaching discipline.
  • Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the discipline.
  • Attends professional development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences.
Curriculum/Student Learning Outcomes
  • Prepares lesson plans for instruction.
  • Works collaboratively with faculty within discipline to establish, measure, and evaluate program or departmental student learning outcomes for continuous student improvement and success and submits to appropriate program chair/director.
  • Participates in faculty calibration exercises and mentoring of faculty.
  • Attends faculty meetings as scheduled.
  • Supports Program Director/Division Deans/Associate Deans Requests and maintains supplies and equipment.
  • Assists Program Director with budget preparation and requests.
  • Actively supports program recruitment, student retention, and job placement efforts.
  • Serves on department and collegiate committees and project assignments as necessary.
