SUMMARY
Responsible for all activities associated with safely operating production machines, including setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to operations to meet customer demand.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESWork safely at all times, be aware of surroundings, and comply with Pratt Industries Safety rules and operating procedures. Help hold co‑workers responsible for safety items and participate in the Plant Safety Committee. Follow GMPs, learn and comply with quality procedures and policies, and stop bad quality from leaving the facility. Maximize equipment utilization, improve set‑up times and downtime, and address mechanical concerns.
Maintain housekeeping, train and assist others, and cross‑train on other machines. Submit reports (production data, machine status, safety, quality). Turn in maintenance work order requests, be proactive in maintenance, and cooperate on shift changes. Work overtime as needed, including holidays. Additional duties may be assigned by management.
High school diploma or GED.
Candidates are preferred who offer the following:
- Prior work experience in packaging (paper, plastics, converting)
- 6 months’ experience in a manufacturing operation
Able to read and follow instructions, quality safety, and job packets.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAble to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy, calculate figures such as percentages, measurement, volume, and rate, and apply high school math concepts.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form; solve problems with concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSMay be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSRegularly stand, walk, talk or hear, use hands to handle and manipulate, and reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. May occasionally sit. Must lift or move up to 50 pounds. Requires close, distance, color, peripheral, depth vision and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENTExposed to moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. Noise level usually loud.
