POSITION SUMMARY

The utility operator will divide their time between supporting the wastewater treatment plant and supporting the production department with production duties, including operating production equipment, cleaning, moving materials, and other tasks as assigned.

Utility operators include operating treatment equipment such as pumps and valves, monitoring meters, gauges, and control panels, adding chemicals, and collecting wastewater samples as needed. The operator will also perform routine maintenance and housekeeping tasks, which involve cleaning the headworks, bar screens, equalization tanks, clarifiers, and other areas of the treatment plant.

  • Headworks Area Cleaning:
    Ensure that the concrete pad surface is free from debris and wastewater.
  • Bar Screens Washing:
    Thoroughly wash the bar screens with a hose and remove any
  • Equalization Tank Cleaning:
    Use a hose to thoroughly wash the equalization tank,
  • Removing any suspended solids, foam, and sludge from its surface.
  • Clarifier Cleaning:
    Remove suspended solids, foam, and sludge from the surface of the Clarifier.
  • Apply wastewater treatment chemicals to wastewater treatment process.
  • Discharge wastewater and ensure it meeting permit limits.
  • Learn and perform WWT laboratory test, COD, Ammonia Phosphorous, PH
  • Support production operations when not working on wastewater operations.
  • Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety Standards, and Standard Operating Procedures related to wastewater operations
QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or GED preferred

At least 1 year of sanitation or janitorial experience, preferably in a food or beverage manufacturing environment.

Understanding of basic sanitation principles and food safety requirements.

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, SOPs, and safety protocols.

Able to work with chemicals safely and use required PPE.

Reliable attendance and ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays as needed.

Experience in a USDA/FDA-regulated facility or similar food-grade manufacturing preferred.

Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, or related food safety programs preferred.
