Hospital Medicine Advanced Practice Provider, PRN
Required to provide comprehensive care for hematology and oncology patients, including assessment, treatment planning, symptom management, patient education, care coordination, and collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
Responsibilities• Must be available to work a minimum of three shifts per quarter, with additional shifts available based on departmental needs.
• Schedule includes 12‑hour shifts (7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. and/or 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.), including weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Serve as the primary liaison between patients, clinicians, and care teams to ensure continuity of inpatient care.
• Collaborate with physicians to assess patient needs and recommend appropriate interventions.
• Enter and manage medication, admission, laboratory, imaging, and treatment orders in the electronic medical record.
• Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation, including histories and physicals, consults, follow‑up visits, patient education, and informed consents.
• Coordinate patient care, improve communication among stakeholders, and support patient flow throughout the hospital.
• Maintain required licensure and certifications while participating in ongoing professional development and training.
• Support departmental initiatives, policy development, and hospital mission‑driven goals.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervising physician.
Required Qualifications:
- Current Georgia licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- For Nurse Practitioners:
National Board Certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). - For Physician Assistants:
Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and successful completion of the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE) through NCCPA. - Current BLS and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) (if obtained through another provider, AHA certification must be completed within 30 days of hire).
- Maintain required continuing medical education (CME) hours and professional certifications as required by the applicable licensing organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Oncology nursing/clinical experience preferred.
- Oncology certifications such as ONS Certification and/or Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP) preferred but not required.
