Position: RN Supervisor - FT Night Shift

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director of Nursing in organizing and directing the day-to-day functions of the licensed and unlicensed nursing staff (personnel and administrative).
  • Admit, discharge and transfer patients as requested; manage documentation and billing supplies; coordinate hospital transfers when necessary.
  • Follow procedures if unable to reach a physician; develop work assignments for unlicensed staff; perform compliance rounds and report pertinent issues.
  • Maintain effective communication with attending physicians; assist with care planning/MDS processes and related committee meetings.
  • Participate in patient screening and selection processes as requested; monitor physician services (documentation and visits) in accordance with current regulations.
  • Assist with follow-up of consultant recommendations (pharmacy, dietary, etc.); provide demonstrations/education for staff as needed.
  • Complete patient documentation within required timelines and using appropriate forms (including Medicare documentation).
  • Communicate with physicians, arrange transportation for doctor appointments, and contact families as needed.
  • Demonstrate supervisory skills with fair, uniformly applied corrective actions and non-discriminatory practices.
  • Provide reports/documentation to support departmental updates and corrective actions; assist with interviewing, screening, and selection of associates within staffing budgets.
  • Maintain personnel file documentation (reference checks, screenings, corrective actions, evaluations, skills verification) as requested.
  • Review and respond to complaints/grievances related to the department; promote inter-departmental communication and positive working relationships.
  • Monitor compliance with established guidelines and protocols; maintain knowledge of licensure standards and survey processes.
  • Make rounds to ensure proper patient care and cleanliness; coordinate patient care and assist nursing staff as needed.
  • Implement Education Program, Infection Control Program, and Quality Assurance Program; contribute to system-wide committees and projects as needed.
  • Promote the image and reputation of the organization through servant leadership and open communication; perform other duties to support system success.
Qualifications
  • Nursing degree from an accredited college or university, or graduate of an approved RN program.
  • Active RN license to practice in the State of Georgia.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Provide oversight and direction to unlicensed nursing personnel.
Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills; professional verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals; write routine reports; speak effectively before groups.
Language, Mathematical & Reasoning Skills
  • Language: read, interpret documents; write routine correspondence; communicate effectively with others.
  • Mathematical: perform basic arithmetic operations in all units of measure.
  • Reasoning: apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions; handle problems with multiple variables in standardized situations.
Computer Applications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Certificates, Licenses & Registrations
  • RN nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
