Responsibilities
- Work PRN/As Needed, 7am-7:30pm.
- Direct the care of the patient through the nursing process and collaborate with the patient, their family and other health care professionals.
- Plan, deliver, direct, coordinate, and evaluate therapeutic interventions based on needs identified in the assessment process.
- Document interventions provided.
- Supervise care delivery by unlicensed support staff.
- Provide education regarding disease processes, side effects of treatment, and health promotion.
- Offer support and reassurance to ensure informed decisions are made regarding the individual's therapeutic plan.
- Document according to department standards.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and accrediting agencies.
- Participate in the development, review, and updating of policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in the Performance Improvement plan of the unit.
- Obtain allergy information and handle medication reconciliation with the patient or family member.
- Communicate this information to other providers.
- Verify and note physician orders.
- Provide safe delivery of prescribed medications and treatments, and evaluate outcomes in a timely manner.
- Current Georgia State Registered Nurse License required.
- BSN required or enrolled within 6 months of hire and BSN completed within three years from hire date.
- Current BLS required (Obtain AHA certificate within 30 days of hire).
- Current ACLS required (Obtain AHA certificate within 30 days of hire).
- Oncology experience preferred.
- Recent ICU and/or OR experience preferred.
- Experience in caring for patients with invasive pressure lines desirable.
- Experience in caring for patients who are on mechanical ventilation desirable.
