Job Summary

Processes Member purchases in a courteous and friendly manner, including verifying, renewing, upgrading, and offering several types of membership products, scanning merchandise, and accepting various forms of payments. Provides excellent member service in an efficient and productive manner. Maintains the overall cleanliness of the front‑line department.

• Exhibit clear understanding of all BJ’s Membership options, including renewals and upgrades.
• Offer membership renewal, EASY renewal, BJ’s Loyalty programs and Rewards redemption.
• Provide a high level of customer service to Members.
• Check Members out in a timely and efficient manner.
• Scan all club merchandise through a point‑of‑sale system to ensure accurate inventory counts and purchase totals.
• Fill shopping carts when necessary and assist at self‑checkout stations.
• Collect payments via cash, check, or other charge payments from members and issue receipts or change.
• Stay up to date on all merchandise promotions, advertisements, and product information.
• Discount purchases by scanning and redeeming coupons.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the front‑line area.
• Assist in general club housekeeping when necessary.
• Return re‑sellable merchandise to the sales floor area.
• Manage self‑checkout and scan and pan lanes.
• Assist Members with operations and technical difficulties.
• Meet cashier productivity expectations.
• Maintain all club policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.

• Basic math skills preferred.
• Prior cashier or sales experience preferred.

The job requires frequent movement on hard surfaces, occasional bending, handling, pulling, reaching, or stooping. It may require lifting objects up to 30 pounds or heavier with assistance. The work is performed in a comfortable indoor area with infrequent exposure to temperature extremes, loud noises, and occasional cleaning agents.

Pay range: starting from $16.00 per hour. Compensation varies based on location, education, experience, and qualifications.
