The Technician, Facility Services, Food Equipment, is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on food equipment, facilities, and fixtures to ensure operational efficiency and safety. This role requires diagnosing issues, utilizing multiple craft skills, and managing maintenance schedules and documentation. The technician supports emergency response efforts, coordinates with contractors, and adheres to regulatory standards. By maintaining equipment and facilities in compliance with company policies and safety regulations, this position contributes to sustaining a reliable and safe work environment aligned with organizational values and operational goals.
Whatyou’ll do
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs on food equipment, facilities, and fixtures following established schedules and guidelines.
- Inspect, clean, and test equipment to diagnose issues and determine replacement needs to minimize future repairs.
- Utilize multiple craft skills including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry to complete major and minor repairs.
- Operate heavy machinery and powered equipment safely, conducting pre‑ and post‑operation inspections.
- Manage work orders, maintenance schedules, parts ordering, and documentation accurately.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies while supporting safe operations.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and participate in on‑call rotations as required.
- Proven experience performing preventive maintenance and repairs on food equipment and facility systems using multiple craft skills such as plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
- Ability to inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot equipment issues using blueprints, manuals, and diagnostic tools.
- Skilled in operating heavy machinery and powered equipment safely and in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Strong organizational skills to manage work orders, maintenance schedules, parts procurement, and documentation accurately.
- Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations to ensure safety and environmental compliance.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with contractors and internal partners.
- Commitment to upholding company policies, ethics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Option 1:
Vocational or technical certification and 2 years’ experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area. - Option 2: 4 years’ experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
- License in a related trade in the city and/or state where the job is located.
- Valid state‑issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
- Ability to read and speak English as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
- Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
- Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
- Mechanical maintenance or construction‑related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.
- No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
- No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
- Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
- Proficiency with intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
