Maintenance Technician (Electrical & Mechanical)

This role focuses on troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing complex industrial equipment and systems, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components. You will perform hands-on maintenance, document all activities, support installations, and collaborate closely with production and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and productivity while following all safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions using appropriate tools, techniques, and test equipment.
  • Repair or replace defective components such as motors, belts, gears, bearings, rollers, shafts, pumps, and electrical wiring as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for existing and new equipment.
  • Keep detailed records of all maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and replacement of parts.
  • Provide assistance with mechanical installations and equipment setup as directed.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and electrical/mechanical problems on machinery.
  • Interface with equipment operators and maintenance staff to understand equipment issues and determine root causes.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and electrical and mechanical schematics to identify problems and perform appropriate repairs.
  • Install and service a variety of systems, including hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, communications, and process control systems.
  • Perform PLC troubleshooting, including understanding and working with ladder logic to resolve control system issues.
  • Troubleshoot electronic systems in the 24V–120V range and perform electrical troubleshooting up to 480V.
  • Support continuous improvement engineers and production departments by suggesting ways to improve the reliability and productivity of equipment.
  • Follow all safety standards, procedures, and policies, and consistently wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Participate in assessments and evaluations related to technical skills and performance when transitioning to permanent employment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.
Essential Skills
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills across a wide range of industrial equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
  • Hands-on experience with pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair pumps, rollers, gears, bearings, and shafts.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, technical manuals, blueprints, and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting and a solid understanding of ladder logic.
  • Ability to troubleshoot 24V–120V electronic systems and perform electrical troubleshooting up to 480V.
  • Knowledge of process control systems and communications systems used in industrial environments.
  • Strong diagnostic skills and ability to systematically identify root causes of equipment malfunctions.
  • Ability to work safely and adhere to all safety standards, including consistent use of personal protective equipment.
  • Effective communication skills for working with equipment operators, maintenance staff, and engineering teams.
  • Capability to maintain detailed maintenance records and documentation in an organized manner.

  • Welding skills for basic repair and fabrication tasks.
  • Interest in ongoing technical training and skills development, including coursework at technical colleges.
  • Comfort working with large-scale industrial machinery and automated systems.
  • Ability to support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment reliability and productivity.
  • Willingness to participate in technical assessments when transitioning to permanent employment.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and occasional weekend shifts as needed.
