Summary
Supports day-to-day branch operations by performing warehouse functions (receiving, storing, picking, and shipping product) and making safe, timely deliveries to customers using company vehicles. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring constant awareness and safe work practices. Employment in this position is contingent upon and subject to ongoing compliance with the driving, safety, and physical requirements described below.
Warehouse DutiesReceive inventory from vendors, customers, and other locations accurately and promptly. Verify part numbers, quantities, and descriptions against packing lists and record and report discrepancies. Enter received quantities into the computer/handheld system and print required documents. Pick, assemble, and stage customer orders; verify orders against ship tickets for accuracy. Safely and accurately cut designated lengths of wire, maintain appropriate lot numbers, and address minor tool/machinery issues.
Operate forklifts and other power-truck/warehouse equipment safely.
Driving & Delivery Duties:
Load trucks, ensuring material matches ship tickets/delivery manifests and is secured for safe transport. Determine and follow efficient delivery routes in coordination with the warehouse manager. Drive company vehicles in a careful, skillful manner to protect cargo, vehicle, and public safety. Unload materials at customer locations, verifying correctness against ship documents. Obtain customer signatures and required documentation for deliveries; collect and secure COD payments when applicable.
Note shipping discrepancies and returns on ship tickets/delivery manifests and report them upon return. Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections; promptly report maintenance or safety issues. Assist with general warehouse duties as needed when not driving.
High school diploma or GED preferred. Warehouse or distribution experience preferred; ability to identify product by size, type, style, color, or product code. Proficiency with Android or iOS devices for routing, data entry, and delivery confirmation. Valid driver’s license from state of residence with at least three (3) years of driving history. Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets company standards.
Preferred- At least one (1) year of experience operating a commercial motor vehicle (GVWR 10,001 lbs. or more) within the last 36 months.
- Certification to operate power-truck equipment (e.g., forklifts) as required by the company.
- Must meet the physical qualifications to operate a motor vehicle in accordance with FMCSA Section 391.41 when operating commercial motor vehicles subject to that regulation.
- Motor Vehicle Record (MVR):
- Successful completion of an MVR review in accordance with company standards at hire and periodically thereafter.
- Ongoing maintenance of an MVR that meets company requirements.
- Drug / Alcohol Testing:
- Passing a pre-employment urine/drug screen in accordance with company policy and any applicable federal or state requirements.
- Continued compliance with all company drug and alcohol policies, including any required random, post-accident, or reasonable-suspicion testing.
- DOT / FMCSA Medical Qualification (if applicable):
- Meeting the physical qualifications to operate a commercial motor vehicle under 49 CFR §391.41 (FMCSA) when operating vehicles subject to DOT regulation.
- Obtaining and maintaining a valid DOT medical certificate as required by law and/or company policy.
