We’re actively seeking a talented Senior Accountant I to join our Policyholder Transaction Accounting team in Newport Beach, CA or Charlotte, NC. This role is hybrid and empowers employees to work both in and out of the office.
Responsibilities- Prepare system-to-ledger reconciliations for policy-level accounting activity in accordance with established procedures.
- Research and resolve reconciliation discrepancies using existing methods and tools, escalating complex and non-routine issues as appropriate.
- Collaborate with team members and upstream partners to support issue resolution and meet service level expectations.
- Prepare and post correcting journal entries under guidance to resolve identified variances.
- Process daily cash-related entries associated with policyholder transactions in a timely and accurate manner.
- Support adherence to reconciliation policies and internal controls, ensuring documentation is complete and audit-ready.
- Assist in tracking and reporting key metrics, including reconciliation timeliness, accuracy, and exception volumes.
- Participate in testing and validation activities for reconciliation tools, accounting systems, or workflow enhancements.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and provide input on efficiency or quality enhancements.
- 5+ years of relevant accounting or financial operations experience.
- 4-year degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Solid understanding of financial statement risks and internal controls.
- Knowledge of fundamental accounting principles, concepts, and practices.
- Strong technical, analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Takes a new perspective using existing solutions.
- Works independently, receives minimal guidance.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel or similar tools.
- Working with large data sets.
- Experience with Peoplesoft, Oracle and ARCs a plus.
The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
