Alere seeks a highly skilled Accounting Manager to join an established and ever-growing dynamic real estate investment company. This strategic role will focus on helping build new processes, manage external resources, and grow an internal team to oversee property accounting operations with a continued focus on enhancing operational efficiency, driving collaboration across departments, and helping to leverage new technologies that empower decision‑making.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in property accounting within the real estate sector, a keen understanding of teams, processes, and controls, and a passion for leveraging technology to improve outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Property Controller to develop and implement institutional processes, controls, and metrics in the oversight of the property accounting function
  • Review and approve monthly, quarterly, annual financial statements, bank reconciliations and annual CAM Reconciliations.
  • Manage accounts payable process, overseeing payment of operating and capital expenditures, utilities, and property tax payments.
  • T reasury Management – Monitor property cash flows, funding requirements, and intercompany transactions. Review and approve in-house checks and wires.
  • Review monthly owner distribution calculation and approve disbursement.
  • Collaborate with Property Managers in reviewing accounts receivable report to resolve issues with rent collection, tenant billing and aging delinquencies.
  • Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecast, analyzing performance against projections
  • Correspond with corporate accounting to analyze bad debt for quarterly write‑offs and CAPEX accrual clean up.
  • Work closely with property managers, asset managers and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of company goals, resolve financial issues and provide insights
  • Correspond and train third party property accounting and in-house staff
  • Ensure adherence to accounting GAAP standards and support internal/external audits.
  • Promote continuous process improvements, best practices, and new tools or technologies
  • Maintain the highest level of quality over the GL, GL sub‑ledger, CAM, budgets, forecasts and monthly reporting deliverables.
  • Master the administration of key property accounting applications, including MRI, Avid, Banking, and other key relevant technologies
Qualifications/Requirements Education
  • Four‑year college degree in accounting/finance or other related area
  • CPA is highly preferred
Knowledge and Experience
  • The highest level of integrity & professionalism and an “ownership” mentality
  • 5+ years of experience in property accounting and/or real estate more broadly
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proven expertise in enhancing complex systems and processes; MRI is a plus
  • Proven expertise in managing teams
  • Demonstrated excellence in time management and ability to prioritize multiple deliverables and meet deadlines
  • Able to address work in a flexible way and remain open to direction from supervisors
  • Ability to think strategically while executing day‑to‑day operations effectively.

This position is based in Newport Beach, CA and is in office full‑time with minor flexibility. Title and pay will be commensurate with experience.
