Job Description

BluePoint Mortgage is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a solid understanding of accounting principles. This position is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting functions of the company, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with month-end closing and financial reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and documentation.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation.
  • Assist with investor, warehouse bank, and vendor reconciliations as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiencies.
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience; mortgage banking or financial services experience, required.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • High Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with accounting software Quick Books is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
