Overview

Position Title: Principal Hardware Engineer

Location: Newport Beach, CA 92660

• PhD with 4+ years of experience, or MSEE with 6+ years, or BSEE with 8+ years
• Experience with schematic capture, PCB design, and layout using tools such as xDxDesigner, PADS, Hyper Lynx, Siwave, HFSS
• Strong understanding of transmission line theory, impedance control, crosstalk, and jitter
• Proficiency in SI simulation tools and hands-on lab equipment
• Experience with high‑speed interfaces: PCIe, DDR, USB, Ethernet
• Extensive knowledge of DFM, PCB fabrication processes
• Extensive experience with lab equipment including VNAs, BERTs

• Experience with CAD library creation/maintenance
• Knowledge of firmware development and microcontrollers

The Principal Hardware Engineer leads the full lifecycle of complex PCB and interconnect design—from feasibility through verification. This role owns end‑to‑end development of internal and customer reference boards, coordinating requirements, component selection, schematic creation, layout, SI/PI analysis, and documentation.

Responsibilities include generating BRDs, creating schematics, symbols, footprints, and BOMs; validating models (transmission lines, connectors, vias, IC packages); performing pre‑ and post‑layout SI analysis; and conducting lab measurements using oscilloscopes, VNAs, and TDRs. The engineer will also drive board bring‑up, debugging, regulatory compliance, vendor collaboration, and mentorship of junior team members.

Total Compensation: up to 200k with base salary, bonus, RSU
