Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000 Depending on experience
SummaryThe Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist assists in the implementation and maintenance of EHS policies, programs, and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including Cal/OSHA and OSHA standards. This role supports operational teams in achieving a continuous "audit-ready" state, conducts inspections, and drives corrective actions to maintain regulatory compliance. The position reports directly to the Director of EHS and works collaboratively under the functional guidance of the Senior EHS Manager to align with strategic EHS initiatives and program execution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:Implement and maintain EHS programs and procedures to ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA Title 8, OSHA, EPA, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Support the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and Hazard Communication (Haz Com) requirements, ensuring all sites maintain compliance and documentation is current; perform annual reviews and updates per Cal/OSHA standards.
Conduct technical site inspections and audits to verify compliance with regulatory standards and company policies; document findings and coordinate corrective actions. (Senior EHS Manager provides oversight; Coordinator assists with documentation.)
Manage hazardous waste programs, including accumulation, storage, and disposal in compliance with DTSC, CUPA, and other regulatory agencies; maintain manifests and ensure compliance with accumulation time limits per Title 22 CCR.
Oversee Safety Data Sheet (SDS) compliance per OSHA , including acquisition, review, and maintenance of SDS documentation.
Investigate EHS-related incidents and near misses, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence; ensure timely reporting of serious injuries and illnesses to Cal/OSHA and OSHA within required time frames.
Coordinate monthly safety meetings and annual emergency drills at all manned sites, ensuring compliance with Cal/OSHA emergency preparedness standards and that emergency action plans are communicated to all employees.
Assist with regulatory agency inspections and audits, acting as liaison and ensuring prompt resolution of findings.
Support training compliance by ensuring technical accuracy of content and verifying completion of required courses; ensure training meets Cal/OSHA standards for PPE, emergency response, and hazard communication. (Coordinator handles scheduling and recordkeeping).
Collaborate with the Senior EHS Manager to implement strategic initiatives and continuous improvement projects across operations.
Assist the EHS Manager in maintaining the following:
- Contractor Databases (Pro Core, ISN, Avetta)
- Bid review and compliance, including contract review and EHS compliance
- SharePoint site management for EHS, Safety, and Risk Management
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or ExperienceMinimum three (3) years of experience in a health and safety role and a bachelor's degree in health and safety or a related discipline. Equivalent professional experience in health and safety may be substituted for the required bachelor's degree. Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, nationally recognized standards, and guidelines related to the position's specialized environmental health and safety functions. Demonstrated experience in recognizing, evaluating, and controlling environmental health and safety hazards.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, plane and solid geometry fundamentals, and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
