Senior Project Engineer - StructuralMcMillen, Inc. is looking for a Senior Project Engineer - Structural with 8‑12 years of experience focused on water resource‑related work. The candidate will work on a variety of projects in fields including fisheries, fish passage, hydropower, dams, flood control, pump stations, and other civil infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities- Evaluate, select and apply advanced structural design techniques, procedures and criteria.
- Develop FEA models and perform linear and non‑linear analysis, using available software. Present analysis results to clients in a clear, understandable manner.
- Manage projects by establishing deliverables, building the project team, managing scope changes, creating communication plans, and monitoring and controlling project work.
- Evaluate and manage planning, design and construction support services for projects.
- Collect and analyze field data, as‑built plans and engineering reports to establish existing conditions and identify critical areas for design criteria.
- Provide mentorship to other engineering staff.
- Travel (up to 15% of time) to project sites and client locations.
- Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience as a Structural Engineer; project‑management experience preferred.
- PE & SE required;
California PE and NCEES registration strongly preferred. - Demonstrated experience with water resource infrastructure including fishery projects, hydropower, dams, water conveyance, stormwater networks, heavy grading, water treatment, spillways, and pump stations.
- Experience with advanced FEA modeling for linear and non‑linear structural analysis using ABAQUS, ANSYS/LS DYNA or similar software.
- Expertise in seismic load analysis, including coefficient methods, response‑spectrum analysis, and time‑history methods.
- Proficient in structural design standards such as ASCE7, ACI 318 & 350, AISC 360 & 341.
- Familiarity with federal agency codes and requirements, including FERC, USACE, US .
- Strong communication, technical and analytical skills.
- Pay Range: $108,359 – $179,000 (DOE)
