Investigate and optimize aerosol generation, transport, and deposition mechanisms to advance Qnovia's ultrasonic nebulization technology.
About the RoleQnovia's competitive advantage lies in its ability to generate aerosols with tightly controlled particle size distributions optimized for deep lung deposition. As an Aerosol Physicist, you will apply fundamental principles of fluid dynamics, acoustics, and particle physics to characterize and optimize our ultrasonic nebulization platform. This is a highly specialized role suited for candidates with deep expertise in aerosol science.
Responsibilities- Characterize aerosol generation mechanisms in ultrasonic nebulization systems
- Develop computational and experimental models for aerosol transport and pulmonary deposition
- Design and execute experiments to optimize particle size distribution, output rate, and dose uniformity
- Evaluate the impact of formulation properties (viscosity, surface tension, concentration) on aerosol performance
- Collaborate with device engineering on transducer design and acoustic energy optimization
- Support regulatory submissions with aerosol characterization data and scientific rationale
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences
- Contribute to intellectual property development and patent applications
- Ph.D. in Physics, Aerosol Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in aerosol generation, characterization, or pulmonary drug delivery research
- Expert knowledge of aerosol measurement techniques (cascade impaction, laser diffraction, phase Doppler anemometry)
- Experience with CFD modeling of aerosol transport and deposition
- Strong publication record in aerosol science or related disciplines
- Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, or equivalent computational tools
- Excellent scientific communication skills
- Experience with ultrasonic or mesh nebulizer technology
- Background in acoustic atomization or piezoelectric systems
- Familiarity with ICRP lung deposition models
- Experience with in-vitro airway models (Alberta Idealized Throat, realistic airway casts)
$135,000 – $175,000 annually, depending on experience. Equity participation included.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Equity ownership in a pre-commercial stage company
- Flexible hybrid work arrangement
- 401(k) with company match
