McMillen, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Managing Engineer with a strong technical background to help deliver exceptional service to our clients. The Senior Managing Engineer will work on a variety of water-related projects in fields including fisheries, fish passage, hydropower, dams, flood control, pump stations, water treatment, storm-water, surface-water management planning, and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.

Responsibilities- Develop, manage, and maintain client relationships; actively build relationships with key clients, professional service organizations, conferences, workshops, and meetings.
- Identify project opportunities, pursue them, and prepare proposals; consult with clients to develop strategies for water-resource needs; collaborate with Practice Leads, Discipline Leads, and Operations Managers on marketing efforts.
- Conduct project kick-off meetings with stakeholders to review the project plan and obtain consensus.
- Identify and document high-level risks, assumptions, and constraints using historical data and expert judgment.
- Manage changes to scope, schedule, and cost, keeping the project plan accurate and approved; facilitate customer acceptance.
- Set expectations in accordance with the Project Plan to align stakeholders and team members.
- Effectively manage multi-disciplinary teams for water-resources projects.
- Measure project performance, identify variances, perform corrective actions, and report to all stakeholders.
- Execute project tasks in accordance with the plan to achieve project goals.
- Define roles and responsibilities of key team members and develop the project organization structure and communication plan.
- Implement actions and workarounds to mitigate project risks.
- Improve team performance by building cohesiveness, leading, mentoring, and training.
- Evaluate and design water infrastructure projects and civil-engineering support tasks; include familiarity with treatment and distribution/conveyance facilities.
- Develop detailed designs, plans, and specifications for infrastructure projects such as pipeline storage and pump station design for storm drain, recycled water, and wastewater collection systems.
- Prepare or oversee planning reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for water, recycled water, and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Manage planning, design, and construction support services for water, recycled water, and wastewater infrastructure projects (Design Project Manager).
- Design storm-water management systems for water quality and quantity control.
- Prepare drainage, soil-erosion and sediment control, utility relocation, right-of-way, staging, and construction plans, specifications, and engineering estimates for water-resources and transportation projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- 18+ years of experience in civil and/or hydraulic engineering.
- Professional Engineering registration required;
California PE registration strongly preferred. - Demonstrated experience with water-resource infrastructure—including fisheries, water conveyance, storm-water networks, heavy grading, water treatment, wastewater treatment, and pump stations.
- Familiarity with federal agency codes and requirements, including FERC, USACE, and US .
- Regular, predictable attendance required.
- Ability to work effectively with others.
- Pay range: $154,000 - $230,000 (DOE).
