We’re actively seeking a talented Credit Analysis Manager to join our Private Placement Investment team in Newport Beach, CA.
As a Private Placement Credit Analysis Manager, you will play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by supporting our team in conducting fundamental research on privately placed fixed income opportunities for inclusion in the company’s General Account. Responsibilities include reviewing financial and legal documents and analyzing investment merits as well as industry dynamics and trends as the basis for making investment recommendations.
You will fill a role on the Private Placement Corporate Team, which currently consists of four investment professionals within the broader Pacific Life Investment department. In addition, you will interact with other credit analysts and portfolio managers. The Corporate Private Placement team manages a portfolio of approximately $17B.
- As a generalist, conduct fundamental credit research and analysis for new investment grade investment opportunities
- Make investment recommendations that meet the needs of the portfolio
- Analyze financial models and help to conduct sensitivity analysis
- Assist in deal tracking and documentation
- Actively monitor existing portfolio investments and assets
- Develop and maintain relationships with external parties including investment banks, other investors and rating agencies; interact with various groups internally
- Grow and advance under the direction of more senior investment professionals to further progress knowledge and skills
- Additional duties as requested
- 5+ years investment experience and fundamental credit analysis (private placement experience preferred)
- Experience underwriting, recommending, and presenting transactions
- Bachelor's degree required, MBA/CFA desirable
- Ability to successfully manage multiple assignments simultaneously with high attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excel proficiency
- Passion for career in investments and intellectual curiosity to delve into company-specific and industry topics
- Risk appetite in alignment with the Team’s philosophy
- Big-picture thinker, team player, and excels working independently and managing ambiguity

Base Pay RangeThe base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
