The City of Newport Beach seeks a motivated individual to join the City Manager's Office.
Currently there is one full‑time Information Technology (IT) Analyst vacancy assigned to the Applications team. The analyst works closely with users to identify business procedures, workflows and issues, and proposes, designs and implements appropriate application solutions. The role also involves modifying existing systems to improve efficiency, streamline workflows and support new functionality.

- Modify existing systems to improve efficiency, streamline workflows and support new functionality.
- Assist with new software implementations and support the design and development of enterprise database systems integral to the organization's day‑to‑day operations.
- Monitor performance, integrity and security of enterprise database systems.
- Design, develop and maintain reports and dashboards based on business requirements.
- Three (3) years of increasingly responsible professional experience in application development, design & testing, web‑based applications and database integration, computer systems analysis, data analysis and reporting; OR
- Hardware and software support, with at least one year of experience administering Microsoft Server, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Active Directory, security and LAN/WAN software and hardware; OR
- Experience designing, implementing and maintaining GIS databases, surveying principles, cartography and map layer design.
Equivalently a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in management information systems, computer science or a related field.
License or CertificateA valid California driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required.

RetirementBenefits include membership in CalPERS. The retirement formula is based on appointment date and membership status with CalPERS. Employees are required to contribute 8% or half the normal cost, whichever is higher, toward the retirement benefit.
Background CheckSuccessful completion of a thorough background review, including fingerprinting by the Newport Beach Police Department, is required. A criminal conviction does not necessarily disqualify the position but may be considered.
