Position Summary

The primary function of this position is to manage, monitor and control all aspects of Maintenance and Repair (M&R) of CMA CGM Group equipment within the geographic region covered by this position, which includes the Pacific, Northwest and Southwest regions.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee vendor activities related to the repair of CMA equipment, including Refrigerated Containers, Dry Containers, Specialized Equipment (Flat Racks & Open Tarps), Gen Set Units and Chassis; review damage pictures to validate estimates; maintain vendor relationships; and conduct cost-saving depot audits on visits to vendors.
  • Review and adjust or decline repair estimates through the CMA MNR systems.
  • Review and adjust or decline paper estimates from vendors not yet on the Newport systems.
  • Establish an inspection program for on/off hired equipment within the regions; review and adjust estimates when equipment is on or off hire.
  • Ensure repairs are completed in a timely manner and minimize long stays (over 30 days).
  • Review all estimates and rebill appropriate 3rd party damages.
  • Assist the MAT DISPUTE team with review of 3rd party rebill equipment claims when a dispute occurs.
  • Manage M&R costs to ensure the region remains within cost guidelines set by CMA CGM Corporate MNR; assist in preparation and implementation of the M&R budget for the region.
  • Identify cost savings opportunities through data analysis of vendors by location and overall practices.
  • Identify and implement best practices; support management in cost savings initiatives and additional opportunities.
  • Review the ILA POD Major Damage and update equipment status accordingly.
  • Maintain equipment service levels in relation to customer demands.
  • Assist Port Ops with specialized equipment availability and surveys (open tarps and flat racks); manage gen sets inventory/availability.
  • Assist the CIM Team with distressed loads requiring transloads or other actions/inquiries.
  • Obtain reefer downloads as required and convert to text or PDF for viewing by internal/external personnel.
  • Assist with procurement of new MNR vendors/depots and with container sales where applicable.
  • Liaise with Corporate MNR and HO for DV approvals when repair estimates exceed local guidelines.
  • Implement and monitor a vendor audit program to ensure compliance with CMA repair criteria and ILA Major Damage Criteria across ILA port facilities in Gulf and West Coast Regions.
  • Develop and maintain a network of cost-effective vendors to repair CMA CGM equipment (dry vans, specials, gen sets, reefers, gen sets and chassis).
  • Ensure the vendor audit program remains accurate for the region and update as needed to reflect new labor rates and material costs.
  • Develop and maintain rapport with repair vendors, depot operators and terminal personnel.
  • Scrutinize MNR estimates/repairs to ensure necessity and accuracy; create 3rd party rebills when warranted.
  • Identify regional cost savings through location-based analysis and trends; promote continuous improvement of best practices.
  • Monitor damaged idle containers to avoid excess storage charges; manage storage charges at rails/ports when applicable.
  • Assist management with cost savings initiatives and identify additional opportunities.
  • Perform other responsibilities or projects as assigned and provide coverage for other MNR managers when needed.
