- Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
The Wound Ostomy Nurse (RN) functions as the clinical resource for patients and staff in the management of ostomy, continence disorders, acute and chronic wounds, skin breakdown, and fistulae. This role provides direct inpatient and outpatient wound and ostomy care, delivers patient and family education pre- and post-operatively, and partners with the healthcare team to improve skin integrity outcomes and eliminate hospital‑acquired pressure injuries (HAPIs).
Key Responsibilities- Serve as clinical resource for ostomy, continence, wound, and skin management
- Provide direct wound and ostomy care in inpatient and outpatient settings
- Deliver patient and family education for wound and ostomy management
- Assist healthcare team in evaluation of skin and wound products and equipment
- Provide educational programs, in‑services, and bedside teaching for nursing staff
- Stay current with advances in wound and skin care practices
- Assess all patients with Stage 3 or greater pressure injuries
- Evaluate and report hospital‑acquired pressure injuries (HAPI) per reporting requirements
- Assess hospital‑wide practices to eliminate HAPIs
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Minimum of four years of clinical experience
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (appropriate state licensure required)
- Two years of experience in Wound and Ostomy nursing
- Experience addressing hospital‑acquired pressure injuries
- Experience leading educational programs and in‑services
