Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Clinical Nurse III – Perioperative role provides direct patient care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act for assigned patients in a Perioperative unit. The nurse collaborates with other disciplines of the health care team to ensure the delivery of safe, timely and appropriate quality patient care. This includes providing physical assessments, nursing interventions, pain management, medication administrations, specimen collection, meeting nutritional needs, and teaching and discharge needs of the patients assigned.
Utilizes the nursing process based on evidence‑based best practices to meet patient care needs. Evaluates and adjusts the nursing care process as necessary with consultation as needed, and confers with the appropriate resource personnel when making ethical, legal, or medical dilemma decisions. Performs other duties as assigned.
Additionally, the Clinical Nurse III meets the requirements outlined in the Clinical Ladder program respective to his/her department. The Clinical Nurse III demonstrates a commitment to hospital involvement and professional growth by participating in committees, attending related meetings, and presenting education projects and/or supplemental activities.
QualificationsEducation and Experience
BSN required.
Three Years’ Nursing Experience RequiredSuccessful completion of an ECG course or equivalency required only for units with telemetry monitoring.
Additional Department Specific Requirements Are As Follows- Heart Catheterization Lab:
- Experience in cardiac telemetry required.
- Three years’ of nursing experience required with at least one year of experience in critical care specialty.
- Successful completion of an ECG test required.
Registered Nurse in the State of California
- Current and in good standing.
N/A.
Certifications Required- Current BLS
- Basic Life Support (AHA) upon hire - National Certification in Specialty area
- Additional department specific certification requirements are as follows:
- Heart Catheterization Lab: ACLS
- Heart Vascular Institute: PCCN
