Clinical Nurse: Chemotherapy Centers

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Clinical Nurse provides direct patient care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act to assigned patients on Medical/Surgical units. The nurse collaborates with other disciplines of the health care team to ensure the delivery of safe, timely and appropriate quality patient care. This includes providing physical assessments, nursing interventions, pain management, medication administrations, specimen collection, meeting nutritional needs, and teaching and discharge needs of the patients assigned.

The nurse utilizes the nursing process based on evidence-based best practices to meet patient care needs, evaluates and adjusts the nursing care process as necessary with consultation as needed, and confers with the appropriate resource personnel when making ethical, legal or medical dilemma decisions. Performs other duties as assigned.

• Clinical Nurse I’s at Magnet designated facilities must have a BSN or be enrolled in a BSN program within one year of hire and must obtain the BSN within two years of starting the program.
• BSN preferred.

• Outpatient Treatment Centers Infusion – Oncology infusion experience required; no experience required for Non‑Oncology Infusion.

• Registered Nurse in the State of California – current and in good standing.

• All Clinical Nurse I's are required to have current BLS certification prior to clinical rotation.
• Outpatient Treatment Centers Infusion – Oncology Infusion:
  Chemotherapy/biotherapy certification required (ONSONCC). Not required for Non‑Oncology infusion.

• Outpatient Treatment Centers Infusion (Non‑Oncology) – Chemotherapy/biotherapy certification preferred (ONSONCC).
