HANA product offerings. This team plays a key role in the broader S/4
HANA Cloud strategy, focusing on cloud‑native services leveraging SAP technologies like SAP Cloud Platform, HANA, Hyperspace, Kyma, and connecting technological learnings back to the S/4
HANA broader portfolio.

Responsibilities and TasksAs a Senior Software Engineer, you are involved in all stages of the product development and deployment lifecycle: idea generation, planning, design, prototyping, execution, shipping, and iteration. You might spend a day with product managers asking questions, brainstorming mockups with Product Designers, and then tackle hard technical problems such as building scalable services or schedulers and exposing data through APIs at vast scale.
You need a deep understanding of architecture and design patterns of microservices in a cloud environment. Specific tasks include but are not limited to:
- Build full‑stack consumer products, from pixel‑perfect UIs to highly available backend systems.
- Iterate rapidly, collaborating with product and design to launch first versions of new products.
- Work with engineers across the company to ship modular and integrated products.
- Leverage the best of Consumer Cloud’s stack or build from the ground when prudent.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong back‑end coding skills; proficiency in one or more object‑oriented languages such as Java, C#, C++, etc., and an understanding of frameworks such as Spring.
- Deep knowledge of data structures and familiarity with storage systems and other technical tools.
- Senior level experience in architecting and designing microservices in a cloud environment.
- Strong expertise in writing unit tests using frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, or equivalents.
- Experience with advanced asynchronous communication mechanisms such as Kafka, Rabbit
MQ, etc. - Pragmatic systems engineering approach focused on delivering value quickly.
- Experience using build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
- Experience writing queries for relational and No
SQL databases. - Familiarity with coding that uses advanced cache stores such as Redis or Memcached is a plus.
- Deep technical knowledge of cloud vendors (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and their services.
- Demonstrated ability to learn continuously, work independently, and make decisions with minimal supervision.
- Thrives in a collaborative environment involving many teams and stakeholders.
- Hold yourself and others to a high bar when working with production systems.
- Enjoys working with a diverse group of people with different expertise and perspectives.
- Familiarity with the full life cycle of software development, from design through testing and deployment.
- Experience with Continuous Integration and CI/CD.
- Master’s, Ph.D. degree, or further education or experience in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
- Experience scaling technical teams.

Compensation Range TransparencyThe targeted annual combined range for this position is $131,000 – $271,600 USD. The actual amount to be offered will be within that range and depends on education, skills, experience, scope of role, location, and other factors.
