Forward Deployed Financial Product Specialist

Surlamer Investments is seeking its first Forward Deployed finance professional to help bring our proprietary financial technology platform to market. This role combines financial markets expertise and customer engagement to translate user needs to the software development team and help implement platform improvements.

As an early member of the team, this position offers the opportunity for significant equity participation based on performance, contribution, and length of employment.

• Interface with external testers and consumers to demonstrate the platform, understand their workflows, and gather actionable feedback
• Translate user needs, market opportunities, and business requirements into product and technical improvements
• Work hands-on with the development team to design, implement, test, and deploy platform enhancements
• Develop prototypes, integrations, scripts, and customized solutions for financial research and trading use cases
• Participate in market positioning, customer acquisition, and business development strategy
• Conduct product demonstrations and communicate the platform's technical capabilities and value proposition
• Support prospective and existing customers through evaluation, onboarding, configuration, and implementation
• Identify new use cases and opportunities to improve platform functionality and user adoption
• Collaborate with leadership and engineering on product priorities, commercialization, and go-to-market initiatives
• Develop technical documentation, product materials, and customer-facing resources
• Monitor financial markets, competitive products, artificial intelligence, and financial technology trends
• Represent the company at customer meetings, industry events, conferences, and trade shows
• Travel as needed to support business development and customer relationships

• Bachelor's degree or MBA/Master's degree in finance with a background in computer science, engineering, or other technical or quantitative fields preferred
• 2+ years of experience as an equity analyst, solutions engineer, financial technology or related role
• Strong understanding of public markets, trading, investment research, and financial data
• Ability to translate financial and customer requirements into practical technical solutions
• Software development experience and proficiency working with APIs, databases, data pipelines, and modern application frameworks
• Experience developing, integrating, or implementing software products in a production environment
• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to work effectively across technical, financial, and business audiences
• Entrepreneurial, adaptable, and comfortable working across software development, product, and customer-facing functions
• Ability to work full-time on-site in Newport Beach, CA
