- Analyze, audit, reconcile, and resolve complex payroll processing and employee payroll issues
- Ensure payroll reporting and payments comply with company policy, GAAP, and federal, state, and IRS regulations
- Research and interpret federal and state regulatory requirements
- Resolve tax, withholding, garnishment, and wage/hour issues
- Respond to auditing and regulatory inquiries
- Manage the company's payroll systems
- Collaborate with Benefits, HR, Finance, IT, and outside vendors to implement and modify systems
- Resolve complex operating problems and integrate payroll with other business technologies
- Serve as business lead for payroll system projects, including upgrades, integrations, and process improvements
- Recommend, implement, and plan system improvements, enhancements, and new applications
- Maintain SOX compliance and governance for the enterprise payroll system
- Ensure payroll reporting needs are met
- Work with system programmers or administer the company payroll system with an outside service provider
- Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience;
Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience - One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications: NNS Apprentice School graduate;
Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate;
Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience;
Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience;
High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience;
High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience - U.S. Citizenship required
- 10%-25% travel required
- Experience interpreting federal and state regulatory requirements
- Knowledge of tax, withholding, garnishment, and wage/hour issues
- Knowledge of payroll reporting, payments, company policy, GAAP, and federal, state, and IRS regulations
- Experience with payroll systems and system upgrades/integrations
- Experience collaborating with Benefits, HR, Finance, IT, and outside vendors
- SOX compliance and governance experience
- No clearance required to start
Demonstrates expertise in payroll processing, compliance with GAAP and IRS regulations, and effective collaboration with cross-functional teams. Proficient in managing payroll systems, implementing process improvements, and ensuring SOX compliance.
