The Accounting Intern contributes to high‑quality assurance services by supporting engagement teams in delivering accurate, timely, and insightful financial information to clients across diverse industries. The role builds foundational technical and analytical capabilities, including the use of approved AI‑enabled audit tools, while developing professional judgment and an understanding of risk, internal controls, and financial reporting. This position provides meaningful exposure to public accounting, fostering the intern’s growth toward becoming a future audit professional and strategic contributor to client service.
ClientService Excellence:
- Contributes to a positive client experience by demonstrating professionalism, responsiveness, and clear communication.
- Supports engagement teams in preparing client information requests and performing follow‑up to ensure timely and complete responses.
- Participates in client meetings through observation and note‑taking to understand client expectations and engagement scope.
- Adheres to deadlines and quality expectations in alignment with client commitments.
- Performs analytical procedures and testing of fundamental financial statement areas (e.g., cash, fixed assets, accounts payable) using firm‑approved audit methodologies.
- Supports assessment of client internal controls by documenting process workflows and executing control testing under supervision.
- Applies foundational accounting principles, including relevant FASB and AICPA guidance, in completing audit procedures.
- Utilizes audit software, data analytics tools, and approved AI‑assisted applications in accordance with firm policy, ensuring human review of all outputs.
- Assists with drafting basic financial statements and related deliverables.
- Clearly documents procedures performed using Microsoft Office and other firm‑standard applications.
- Builds effective working relationships with engagement teams through collaboration, reliability, and openness to feedback.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills when engaging with colleagues and clients.
- Manages assigned work efficiently to support engagement team productivity and profitability.
- Looks for opportunities to enhance quality or efficiency through technology, standardized processes, or improved documentation.
