The City of Newport News is seeking a Building Codes Inspector to join the Codes Compliance Department. You will inspect new and remodeled residential and commercial buildings for Virginia Construction Code compliance.
Responsibilities include reviewing plans, visiting sites, inspecting HVAC, fire suppression and fire alarm systems, advising owners and contractors, issuing violations when needed, and documenting findings with daily reports. Strong communication is essential.
