Concrete Finisher

Overview

Reporting to the General Foreman, the Concrete Finisher is responsible for performing various construction duties. This role performs manual labor, pours and finishes concrete, and performs other concrete construction and general construction duties as needed to assist with various types of construction projects. Assignments may change based on project needs, and employees may be required to perform duties outside of their primary trade to support overall project completion.

and Responsibilities

Essential functions include but are not limited to:

  • Set and construct concrete forms, including carpentry tasks for accurate dimensions, alignment, and support of poured concrete.
  • Pour, level, and finish concrete to specifications.
  • Apply surface treatments and finishes, including broom, trowel, or stamped finishes, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Monitor curing processes and implement measures to prevent cracking or surface defects.
  • Repair, patch, and resurface existing concrete as needed.
  • Place and finish flat slabs.
  • Perform demolition work.
  • Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized manner.
  • Follow all safety protocols, job site regulations, and quality standards.
  • Perform other miscellaneous general construction duties as needed for project completion, including other manual labor.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a concrete finisher and/or carpenter required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend engineered sketches and drawings.
  • Enthusiastic, professional, and positive attitude.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work long hours.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to operate company vehicles preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods (up to 8–12 hours per day).
  • Ability to perform functional range of motion tasks, including gripping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds, and occasionally more with assistance.
  • Ability to work on uneven surfaces and at heights while maintaining balance and coordination.
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat and cold, rain, wind, humidity, and dusty or noisy conditions.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and other task-specific requirements.
Work Environment
  • Work is performed on active construction sites, typically in industrial and shipyard environments.
  • Exposure to construction-related hazards, including moving machinery, heavy equipment, cranes, vehicle traffic, loud noise, dust, fumes, and airborne particles.
  • Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, humidity, wind, and precipitation.
  • Work may occur at heights, over or near water, and in confined or restricted spaces on uneven, slippery, or unstable surfaces.
  • Work may require the use of ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, and other temporary structures.

Compensation

Candidates are placed into the appropriate classification based on their experience, skills, qualifications, and certifications. The classifications and corresponding pay ranges for this role are:

  • Journeyman: $26.00–$28.49/hour
  • Tradesman I: $28.50–$32.00/hour
  • Tradesman II: $29.50–$40.00/hour
