* * Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA, provides the newest medical technology in a healing environment. It is the most comprehensive facility of its kind on the Virginia Peninsula. This short-term acute care hospital with 300 beds is a voluntary nonprofit and a member of Riverside Health System. The hospital features a neonatal intensive care unit with 21 beds and neonatologists located on-site.

** Case Assignments
** Diverse and challenging case mix includes general, endo, vascular, neuro, radiology, vascular, thoracic, urology, cardiac, bariatric, orthopedic, plastics ENT, OB, and GYN.

* * Monday-Sunday - 7:00 PM-7:00 AM - 1 week on, 2 weeks off

Requirements  Responsibilities  Assist in the directing and coordinating of activities in the Anesthesia Department  Responsible for the medical management of patients who are rendered unconscious and/or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgery and other medical procedures  Pre-anesthesia assessment  Obtain and/or verify patient consent  Discuss anesthetic options and risks with the patient  Induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia  Monitoring of the patient's physiological condition  Performance of clinical intervention as needed    Requirements  M.D./D.O. Degree from an accredited College of Medicine  ECFMG and FLEX  Completion of approved residency in anesthesia  Currently licensed as a physician
