Position Summary

This position requires extensive practical and technical knowledge of multiple NDT test methods and associated specification requirements. The NDT Level III serves as Trident’s Responsible Level III (RLIII), Corporate NDT Technical Authority, and Supplier NDT Oversight Lead.

This individual ensures compliance with Trident’s Quality Management System (QMS), Trident-approved welding procedures (WPS/PQR), and Trident-approved NDT procedures while satisfying applicable NAVSEA contractual requirements.

Required working knowledge of NAVSEA Technical Publication 1688 and 1689.

Certified methods oversight includes: VT, MT, UT, PT, RT.

Travel Requirement: 10–15% annually to support supplier surveillance, Navy interface, certification testing, and compliance audits.

Core Responsibilities – Corporate Authority
  • Serve as Responsible Level III under Trident Written Practice.
  • Approve NDT procedures and workmanship standards.
  • Interface with Navy customers, SOS, and NAVSEA Technical Warrant Holders.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
Core Responsibilities – Certification Governance
  • Train, examine, and certify NDT personnel.
  • Develop and administer general, specific, and practical examinations.
  • Verify documented OJT hours.
  • Approve, suspend, decertify, retrain, or re-test personnel as necessary.
  • Maintain traceable certification records.
Core Responsibilities – Supplier NDT Oversight (Critical Function)
  • Verify supplier compliance with Trident-approved welding procedures.
  • Ensure supplier NDT activities conform to Trident-approved NDT procedures.
  • Conduct site monitoring and surveillance against Trident QMS requirements.
  • Perform product re-inspection when required.
  • Analyze workmanship trends and reject rates.
  • Compile technical reports related to supplier adherence to Trident requirements.
Welding Program Integration
  • Support development and governance of Trident welding procedures.
  • Ensure NDT integration within WPS/PQR processes.
  • Support welder qualification and requalification events.
  • Provide technical interpretation during weld inspection disputes.
Required Qualifications
  • Certified Nondestructive Test Examiner (ASNT Level III or NAVSEA 250-1500-1 Test Examiner).
  • Minimum 6 years relevant inspection/test/quality experience.
  • Documented experience hours per certification requirements.
  • Direct working experience with NAVSEA 1688 & 1689.
  • Experience enforcing company-owned QMS and welding procedures in supplier environments.
  • Ability to travel 10–15% annually.
Salary Band Justification

Recommended Salary Band:
Current Industry Standards- $125,000 – $165,000 annually based on corporate authority and assuring certification liability.
