Who We Are
Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is excited to offer a new opportunity to join our growing team! As a Steam and Electric Plant Engineer, you will support task execution by applying Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) and Tag-out User's Manual (TUM) requirements to system maintenance and testing during a depot-level maintenance period. In this role, you will work within the E84 SEP Test Engineering Department throughout a nuclear ship's maintenance cycle.
What You Will Do
- Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.
- Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics).
- Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data.
- Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports.
- Conducts tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering and 0 years of relevant professional/exempt experience. Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- Candidate must have experience working on electrical and/or mechanical engineering projects.
- Candidate must have experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and schematics.
- Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Candidate must have the ability to obtain/maintain a Secret Security Clearance is required.
- Fundamentals of engineering license is preferred.
- Experience in coordinating multi-trade projects is a plus.
- Experience in applying the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM)/Tag-out User's Manual (TUM) requirements to systems maintenance and testing in a depot level maintenance period is preferred.
- Prior Nuclear Navy or Shipyard experience is desired.
