Job Overview
Raytheon Field Engineering is seeking a Hardware Maintainer Field Engineer for the SPY-6 Radar Program. The engineer will work on Newport News ship platforms at Newport News Shipbuilding, troubleshooting and resolving hardware issues related to power, cooling, array, and other radar subsystems.
Location & Working Hours- Location:
Newport News, Virginia (on site) - Extended hours; may require off‑shift support and some travel to remote sites
- Install, maintain, repair, modify, and replace radar hardware components.
- Perform troubleshooting of radar hardware during integration with other systems.
- Support integration and test activities, including setup, coordination, and tracking of subsystem status and configurations.
- Interface with hardware design teams on troubleshooting and retrofit procedures for approved Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
- Adjudicate hardware issues identified during radar system activation and testing through the Hardware Trouble Report (HTR) database.
- Maintain calibration of tooling and track deliveries of material and equipment required for radar hardware repairs and ECPs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in RF systems, power systems, troubleshooting, and reading/using hardware schematics.
- Experience maintaining and providing engineering assessment and corrective actions on faulted equipment, and installing and testing engineering modifications/updates.
- U.S. citizenship required; active, transferable U.S. government‑issued security clearance (Secret) required before start date.
- Preferred: experience aboard ships or at remote test sites, naval radar programs, operating and testing naval radars, root‑cause analysis, and flexible travel.
- Competitive salary range: $68,900 – $131,100 USD (based on experience).
