Salary Range: $99,000.00 to $

The anticipated salary range represents the estimated base pay for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors, and may vary from the posted range

Designs, develops, and tests nuclear equipment and systems. Conducts research on new materials of special interest in nuclear reactors. Conducts studies related to the detection and control of radiation and radioactive contaminants. Studies nuclear fuel cycle to define most economical uses of material and safest means of waste products disposal. Other areas of research include radiation transport modeling, statistical analyses and performance metrics.

Recommends various technology options or approaches for system, processes, facility or program improvements in terms of safety, performance, efficiency or costs.

Interprets military specifications, drawings, and technical requirements for Valves (and other piping or machinery components) to extract ordering data which is required to support procurement for Naval Shipbuilding. Reviews supplier submitted drawings, first article tests, shock tests, and vibration reports to ensure they meet contract requirements. Resolves supplier submitted requests for information and supports resolution of supplier issues.

• • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience;
• • Master's Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience;
• • Ph.D. and 0 years of experience.

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

• Experience in material processes, including reviewing vendor drawings and interpreting military specifications.
• Knowledge of i2, SAP, Supplier Software, Newport News part numbers, and material specifications is a plus.
