The RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager to lead our Hydrodynamic Design Team. As a strong team leader, you will have the opportunity to influence the design of the next generation fast attack submarine, as well as other Navy programs. You will be responsible for leading a team of specialty engineers who perform both R&D and engineering analysis and design for Hydroacoustics, Hydrodynamics, and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
Key Responsibilities- Assign and manage projects to ensure efficient execution, and provide guidance and direction to the team.
- Encourage the team to develop solutions and processes that enhance efficiency and quality.
- Provide guidance and support to foster the professional growth of the team, and help team members develop their skills and expertise.
- Manage the team’s budget, and ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Regularly communicate with the team, peers, management, and leaders across departments, including NAVSEA, to ensure that projects are well-coordinated and that stakeholders are informed.
- Collaborative and dynamic work environment with a team of experienced and talented engineers.
- The chance to work on high-profile projects, including the design of the next generation fast attack submarine.
Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design;
Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience.
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Nice to Have- Experience in Hydroacoustics, Hydrodynamics, and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is highly desirable.
- Coaching and mentoring experience is also preferred, as you will be responsible for guiding and supporting the professional growth of the team.
