Manager, Engineering – Future Sub Mechanical Engineering

Responsibilities

• Oversee the development and optimization of propulsion plant fluid systems and components for future submarines
• Contribute to the design and enhancement of systems
• Improve performance, cost, and maintainability
• Responsible for technical oversight, work management, and leadership of an experienced and developing group of engineers
• Blend of new design work and leadership development

• Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design
• Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience.
• Specific knowledge of the design of VCS, SEAWOLF, and SSN 688 Class submarines
• Understanding of how technical requirements vary between the different classes.
• Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program operational and maintenance experience for either submarines or aircraft carriers.
• Experience with or an understanding of the interdisciplinary interactions and program management necessary to successfully lead a new design program.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to support the development and presentation of technical reports and briefs to internal and external stakeholder leadership.

Demonstrates expertise in the design and optimization of propulsion plant fluid systems for submarines, with a strong focus on performance, cost, and maintainability. Proven leadership in managing engineering teams and overseeing new design programs within the naval nuclear propulsion domain.
