Engineering Technician

• Provide technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks
• Gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data, including laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes
• Produce engineering documentation, reports, drawings, flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics
• Perform detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas
• Conduct preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided
• Make quantitative judgments concerning technical data
• Use a personal computer for analyses and development of documentation and reports
• Conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis
• Support active Test Engineering projects within Newport Newport Shipbuilding's Division

• Engineering Technician 2:
  Associate degree or other 2-year technical degree in a related discipline and 1 year of related experience; or high school diploma/equivalent and 3 years of related DoD/USN experience
• Engineering Technician 3:
  Associate degree or other 2-year technical degree in a related discipline and 3 years of experience; or high school diploma/equivalent and 5 years of related DoD/USN experience
• Engineering Technician 4:
  Associate degree or other 2-year technical degree in a related discipline and 6 years of related experience; or high school diploma/equivalent and 8 years of related experience
• Confidential Security Clearance
• Experience with Navy Work Authorization Forms and Tag Outs using eSOMS
• Ability to work in a shipboard environment
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity
• Ability to lift, carry, and transport heavy equipment
• Ability to climb ladders and stand for extended periods

Demonstrates expertise in technical support, data analysis, and engineering documentation production, with a strong focus on compliance with Navy Work Authorization Forms and Tag Outs. Capable of performing detailed mathematical calculations and conducting tests to assist with engineering evaluations.
