The City of Hampton is looking for a Probation Officer II to provide probation supervision, support, and guidance to probationers referred by the courts to the Criminal Justice Agency! The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and skilled in case management, with strong communication and organizational skills.

- HS or successful completion of GED.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college. Degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration or Corrections preferred.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience working directly with offenders or defendants.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
- Must possess or obtain VCIN certification within ninety (90) days of employment.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
- Must successfully pass testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City of Hampton substance abuse policy.
- Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
- This position is contingent upon the availability of grant funding, and the continuation of employment is subject to the renewal or extension of the grant.
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
