Position: Clinical Documentation Specialist III-Full Time-Days

What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)
  • Assess clinical documentation through a thorough review of medical records to ensure accuracy in patient severity, risk of mortality, and resource utilization
  • Interact with healthcare providers and coding staff to ensure appropriate reimbursement for services rendered
  • Conduct post-discharge reconciliation for comparative analysis of clinical documentation
  • Formulate clinical documentation clarifications to enhance accuracy of diagnoses and patient safety indicators
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to resolve physician queries prior to patient discharge
What is Required (Qualifications)
  • Associates Degree in Nursing (Required)
  • 5-6 years of Nursing experience, preferably in patient care, critical care, utilization management, quality, or patient navigation (Required)
  • 3-4 years of Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) experience (Required)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license upon hire (Required)
  • Certified Documentation Integrity Practitioner (CDIP) or Certified Clinical Document Specialist (CD) upon hire (Required)
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a healthcare-related field
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certifications
  • Familiarity with ICD-10 coding rules and regulations
  • Experience with 3M 360 or other coding encoders
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
