Software Engineer (Front End Developer) - GCCS-J Mid to Senior Level | $80,000-$155,000 | Newport News, VA | U.S. Citizenship Required - Secret Clearance (TS/SCI Preferred) Design the future of Joint Command and Control-develop innovative front-end solutions that power the GCCS-J system, DoD's trusted platform for mission-critical situational awareness. A Day in the Life - What You'll Do
• Support sustainment and modernization of the Global Command and Control System - Joint (GCCS-J), the DoD's C2 system of record
• Design and implement intuitive, scalable, and secure front-end applications for situational awareness, infrastructure, and intelligence product areas
• Collaborate across geographically dispersed teams, ensuring timely communication of project statuses and challenges
• Follow Agile development processes and support the full software development lifecycle: requirements, design, implementation, test, and sustainment
• Lead independent technical investigations, provide technical advice, recommend solutions, and assist the Government in integrating new GCCS-J capabilities
• Ensure compliance with DoD security standards, coding best practices, and performance requirements
• Deliver structured, innovative solutions in dynamic, mission-driven environments
Required Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in STEM or related technical field
Experience:
• Mid-Level (II-III): 3-5+ years of professional software development experience
• Senior-Level (IV-V): 5-10+ years of professional software development experience
• Proficiency in JavaScript and CSS
• Hands-on experience with at least one modern JavaScript framework (Vue.js, Angular, or React)
• Experience designing and architecting front-end applications
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in collaborative, cross-functional teams
• U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain a final Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Java, Object-Oriented Design, and Programming
• Familiarity with frameworks and tools:
Spring/Spring Boot, Node.js, NPM, Type Script, Maven, Gradle, Jenkins
• Proficiency with IDEs such as VSCode, Eclipse, or Net Beans
• Experience with automated testing tools (JUnit, Jest, Robot, Selenium)
• Knowledge of UX/UI best practices and component frameworks (Bootstrap, Material, Quasar)
• Exposure to Linux/Windows system administration, Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized application development
• Familiarity with C2 Systems, DoD STIGs, secure coding practices, and static code analysis (Sonar Qube, Fortify)
• Knowledge of databases, performance testing, debugging, and Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket)
• Ability to apply math/statistics to algorithms
• Background in military intelligence, imagery, or strategic planning
