Maintenance Technician – Operations

Join Pennrose as a Maintenance Technician and work directly with the Property Manager and Maintenance Supervisor to keep apartment buildings clean, safe, and functional. This role is based in Newport News, VA and offers a competitive hourly wage of $23–$25 based on experience.

• Perform daily administrative tasks such as online training, review updates, vendor scheduling, parts ordering, and participate in team meetings.
• Use the company mobile maintenance app to track, complete, and close all service requests and work orders promptly and accurately.
• Assist with turnkey operations, including scheduling, punch, painting, and cleaning within five business days of move‑out.
• Maintain an effective preventive maintenance program and prepare for owner, federal, state, and local inspections.
• Inspect grounds, buildings, and common areas for a safe, clean environment.

• Property inspection results consistently excellent.
• Work orders and units completed on time.
• Preventive maintenance performed professionally and on schedule.
• Customer satisfaction surveys consistently perfect.

• High School Diploma or GED; technical training certifications a plus.
• One year of property maintenance responsibilities or similar experience.
• Valid driver’s license, insured vehicle, and ability to travel between properties.
• Obtain company‑provided EPA certification within six months of employment.

• Periodic flexible hours required; travel by plane and automobile required.
• Work at property locations within or near transitional neighborhoods.
• Climb stairs, use elevators, bend, squat, and reach overhead; meet standard mobility and lifting for tasks typical of property maintenance.
• Multitask, stay organized, and meet deadlines.
• On‑call, after‑hour emergency service required.
• Hands‑on repair and maintenance work constitutes the majority of time and duties.
