Material Handler
Location: Newport News, VA (On‑Site)
Type: Contract‑to‑Hire
Pay Rate: $17.50–$18.00/hr
Shifts:
1st Shift: 4:00 AM – 12:30 PM
2nd Shift: 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM
3rd Shift: 8:00 PM – 4:30 AM ( $0.50 shift differential )
We are hiring Material Handlers to support production operations in a refrigerated facility. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands‑on work, fast‑paced environments, and contributing directly to production efficiency. You will play an important role in keeping equipment supplied, ensuring smooth bottle handling processes, and assisting production teams as needed.
What You’ll DoMove materials between machine stations to support production flow.
Set up, adjust, and operate bottle‑handling equipment, labelers, and similar machinery.
Maintain clean work areas and equipment.
Check product codes and labels during change‑overs for accuracy.
Monitor equipment, clear jams, and reroute jugs when necessary.
Maintain jug supply and communicate trailer needs to supervisors.
Keep machines operating smoothly leading into the bagging process.
Operate the bagging machine when production is paused.
Report issues to supervisors or leads promptly.
Support maintenance teams when equipment is down.
Follow proper safety procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Work weekends, overtime, and holidays as required.
Experience in material handling, general labor, or production environments.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to lift, move, and handle materials throughout the shift.
Ability to work in refrigerated conditions and around common food-production allergens.
Reliability and willingness to learn new equipment and processes.
Experience with loading/unloading.
Familiarity with packaging or general warehouse work.
Comfort using hand tools or basic mechanical skills.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.50 - $18.00/hr.
