NSC Staffing is actively hiring Sheet Metal Workers for an upcoming project in the Newport News, VA area. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in sheet metal shop fabrication, commercial work, or marine repair.

Responsibilities
As a Sheet Metal Worker, you will fabricate and install sheet metal components, especially in marine and industrial settings. Core duties include:

Reading and Interpreting Drawings:
Read and interpret sheet metal sketches, blueprints, and complex assembly drawings for installation and fabrication.

Assembly and Fabrication:
Accurately assemble piece parts to meet specifications and quality standards.

Installation:
Properly install shipboard ventilation and habitability systems.

Working with Tools:
Use small hand tools such as electric drills, grinders, and rivet guns, along with shop equipment like drill presses, press brakes, and shears.

Sheet Metal Fabrication:
Layout, cut, bend, and fabricate gauged sheet metal to tight tolerances.

Ventilation Systems:
Experience in working with ventilation ducts and equipment.

Blueprint Comprehension:
Ability to interpret ventilation assembly drawings, including understanding weld symbols, material types, and datum lines.

Measurement:
Skilled in using a ruler to comprehend fractional and decimal dimensions.

Piece Part Layout:
Ability to accurately lay off piece parts for fabrication.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in sheet metal shop fabrication, commercial sheet metal work, or marine repair.
• Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment.
• Experience using various hand tools and shop equipment as specified.
• Ability to work with precision and attention to detail.

Work Environment: You will work in shipyards, aboard vessels, or in industrial settings, performing pipe fitting tasks on complex marine systems. The role demands precision, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a team.
